IJC # 243: Phantom: The Clutches of Destiny

Dear Indrajal Lovers, this is an original "click" by me, again on the canon!
The other download attached is the scan sent by Chandoba to me.
This clicked version is the original IJC, so see both of them and see the differences in between them! I am improving the technique of clicking as against scanning, which is a rather easier one, as far as my experience is telling me.
I am getting so many visitors, but the comments are comparitively less. Ofcourse, the regular visitors are making it a point to post their comments, and are really the big guns making all the diffrence!

Among a few scanners, it seems the indrajal community has found an original and dedicated clicker also. Congratulations. You are surely enjoying it, as frequency suggests.

But I do not understand the need for clicking this already scanned comic. The quality of previous scans (possibly by Ajay) is reasonably good. Instead you could have applied few photoshop effects to further improve those.

Anyway, I would like to see few more names in the Labels.

Come to think of it clicking is indeed easier. espcially if you had a tripod and could fix the camera. What an ingenious idea!
The last two ads in this comic are indeed quite apt!
Lack of comments is the everyday reality that the bloggers have to come to terms with. I for exmaple post some low resolution strips and have never posted IJCs. Even then if I check my mediafire account I find on average 40-60 downloads per post. The comments per post are only 6-8. This includes discussions and replies by me!
All we can do cheer ourselves up by looking at the no of downloads

I really don't understand, when people get something so easily, why can't they just say a hello and do it? actually we all do this for our self hapiness, not for money or praises, but seems this is the same story with the entire Indrajal community, or maybe is the attitude of human beings, nowadays! anyway, i tried with the stand, only thing is, u need to ahve aheavy glass on the comic, so u have a flat copy, like in a scanner!

Thanks for this comic. Enjoyed reading it. The story in this was more tightly woven, than a lot of Phantom stories I have read.

That's one thing that's always puzzled me - the overt simplicity of the stories, specially in the Phantom series. Perhaps they thought that the kids reading it wouldn't be able to cope with anything more complex than this.

But perhaps, this overtly simplified narrative is one of the things that attracts people to IJC.

- Ruchi.

People download and don't even bother to post a comment.

Such a person, probably feels that there is nothing wrong with it, and that the downloaded content is as good as his/hers.

This issue is not something that you guys only encounter. This manifests itself in various forms across the world. The entertainment industry is seeing it in a big way, albeit in a slightly different form. See this excellent article about it: http://www.economist.com/business/displaystory.cfm?story_id=10498664

It may not appear related to the problem that you face, but the fundamental issue is same - In web 2.0, what is the meaning of the content ownership.

At the end of the day, however, there are two basic questions:
1) for the bloggers - what is their motivation for blogging, why do they blog ?
2) for the readers - do they believe in the credo of saying "thank you" ?

Somehow the URL of the Economist article I mentioned didn't appear in the comment. This time let me try putting in the hyperlink form:

From major to minor

Good thoughts by Ruchi. I think the comparison bet. entertainent industry and a comic blog is apt in some sense. I think every comic blogger would say they started because they wanted to share their stuff. However sharing is a lonely job. You dont know what you doing is useful or not unless you receive some feedback. Hence the need for more comments. When I started going to TCP all I did was download without commenting. These days I dont download without commenting. I put myself in the shoes of the blog owner then I realise they require a pat on the back from time to time to keep going.

This one has the ad pages intact and so this is better than the earlier scans. Thanks Sameer!

Dear Ruchi, Thanks for the concern! It actually dosent feel bad when no one comments, since we blog for our own happines! But one wonders, whats the cost to an individual just to say hello?

Col. Worobu, I had read ur comment asking for the ads. I will remember that everytime i post!

Grouchy, U have said and done rightly!

TPH, thanks again for ur support!

thanks for the "click", for your information ,( for all of you) the comic i sent was not scanned by ajay otr myself, it was a charlton publication, ditto.. so ajay only scanned front cover and put the rest as it is...

but indrajal version is far better than charton

Yes. I had realised it later that the old one is not an indrajal. They have different titles also but the pictures are exactly the same panel to panel,so initially they both appeared same to me.

One funny thing I noticed. In the very last panel in the two versions, diana is saying slightly different things.

Original: I'm safe in your arms.
Indrajal: With you around, I am always safe.

God knows what objectionable they discovered in this.

In the last panel, also the pgymies are spying on enjoing dialouges between Phantom & Diana! how dare they? eh?
